Peeking Hummingbird

This is an illustration that I created for Colour Collective. If you are not familiar with them, they are a page on twitter that posts one color for the week. Artists can then take that color and incorporate it into a work of art using any media. You are then asked to post the work by Friday with the hashtag #colour collective This color was “timber wolf” gray. Its a great way to get the creative juices flowing. Check them out! https://twitter.com/Clr_Collective

Loggerhead Sea Turtle

These turtles were named for their large head size, used to crush shell-fish such as conchs. The most common sea turtle in the US was at one time a threatened species. Today they are protected by the International Union for the Conservation of Nature.

I did a little work on this guy today. He will be available at Marnee’s Studio soon! Go to http://www.marneestudio.com for more information.

The Blue Butterfly

This illustration was inspired by a South American folk tale called “The Wings of the Butterfly” in which a girl gets lost in a forest and meets some interesting creatures along the way.

“Dear Chimidyue,” said the butterfly gently, “that is the way of the forest. Among your own people, things change slowly and are mostly what they seem. But your human world is a tiny one. All around it lies a much larger world, and you can’t expect it to behave the same.”
