Pieces of Sand

Sand 15″ x 23″ Watercolor on 400lb Coldpress Paper

This is a watercolor portrait of my daughter that I just finished! I’ve been working on it for a couple months. My goal in this piece is to capture the sensory experience of discovering sand for the first time. I plan to document several of her “first discoveries” through watercolor. I’m playing with the idea of contrasting lost and found edges to convey the idea of ephemeral memories.

  1. Lisa, this is breathtaking. I love the philosophy behind the painting as well and how you conveyed it in the painting. So beautiful
